Burdened by limitations and prejudice, glass art has long been neglected and scorned as beneath serious consideration by connoisseurs. Glass art is seen thanks to the light passing through it. The best artists in the medium exploit this with rich use of colour, contrast and detailing. Margaret Rope was among such people.
